“Without consultation, plans are frustrated, but with many counselors they succeed.”
Proverbs 15: 22
For about a year I was convinced that I knew exactly how I should be working out and that even if I didn’t know yet that I could figure it out on my own. I was a know it all. I was determined to figure it out myself and that in order to succeed I had to be willing to keep working until I was able to.
How arrogant am I right?
Not a time in my life have I been able to just “figure it out” without some sort of guidance from someone else that has been there before me. It doesn’t matter who that is, could just be your parents, but that role is filled by someone in your life. Whether you like it or not, we all need advice from other people. Not just on how to workout but on decisions within your life.
If you have never been through a certain experience how are you supposed to know how to prepare or deal with it? It’d be liking walking into class for a test that you’ve skipped lectures for and not studied for. It would be stupid, so how is it different for situations in your life? Well, its not.
Even if you feel like you don’t have any mentors in your life, it’s super important to remember that we all have access to the most important mentor, which is God. I can’t tell you how many times I have been worrying about how I would get through something when I hear a voice in my head that tells me everything is falling into place for something greater ahead. Even if you find yourself in one of the toughest situations, it’s incredible to remember that things are falling into place.
If you’re struggling like I have in the past, keep pushing !! Things work out, reach out to someone and learn from them. The things most valuable are the ones that are the toughest to get.
