“You have no idea how many people have control of your life. Make lists of people you trust and love and constantly examine the people in your life.”
Whether you like it or not, you most likely act based off how you think others will perceive you for it. You base most of your actions with the mindset, “Will I be cool for it?” Or maybe you’re worried about others talking about it. This was me to a T.
I come from a town that is consumed with this thought process. Don’t get me wrong, I love that town and I want to live there after college. But a majority of the people base all of their actions solely on how others think of them, and there is this mindset that you can’t do anything different, otherwise, you become an outcast. You’ll become the joke of the party.
Living constantly worried about what others think straight up sucks, I don’t know why I did it for so long. And to be honest with you, I was someone that was against anyone doing something different. I always found myself not wanting to be like this, but I continually caught myself judging someone for being different and happy.
There’s two reasons I acted how I did.
1) I was jealous. Jealous that they were comfortable enough to do their own thing while I was stuck in a constant cycle of trying to impress everyone.
2) I was worried about what others would think of me if I supported something unconventional.
PEOPLE controlled every aspect of my life. People make others self-conscious. People have such an ability to have a negative impact on others lives.
HOWEVER
People have just the same ability to influence you to take a big step in your life. People have the ability to support you and make you want to pursue your goals in life.
I never would have taken the step I did in pursuing fitness if it were not for my friends and family that supported me. I had a blog on blogspot for 3 months that I only posted on Facebook because I was scared of what my friends would think.
Having the few people that I had contact me and support me mean the world to me because my life would not be going the direction it would be if not for them. It never gets old having people tell me that I’ve helped them or inspired them.
I have the ability to put myself out there for the sole reason of people supporting me. Of course there are still other people that probably can’t stand me, but I honestly could not care less anymore.
My life has done a 180 since I stopped caring about others opinions,be yourself. It’ll be a MUCH happier life.
Listen to the voices that support you, not the voices that tear you down.
Take control of your own life.
Much Love
