I’ve been to Iron Valley Barbell only twice and I have learned 3 major lessons from the crew and the man himself, Zach Homol.
First and foremost I wanna say that experiencing IVB is unlike any other and if you are serious about learning how to lift correctly, get yourself to IVB. If you’re nervous to go by yourself, let me know and I will go with you for sure.
Three major things I learned about life:
- Encourage others. The thing I loved most about Iron Valley was how encouraging everyone was there. This was one thing I really took away from my first trip and why I immediately started planning on when I could get back next. I am by no means one of the “strong” guys at IVB but that doesn’t matter inside those four walls. The feeling of having that many guys supporting you through a tough workout was unbelievable. I think encouraging others is one of the most beneficial things we can do on a daily basis. Not for our own personal gain, but for others. Feeling love and support from your friends, family, and even strangers is overwhelmingly motivating. Providing others with this support could change someone’s life because it could be the difference between them chasing their goals and them deciding to hide in the crowd.
- Show love to others. When we walked into IVB I was pretty nervous because I didn’t know what to expect. I was excited beyond belief but being in a new place without knowing anyone is pretty uncomfortable. Well this changed pretty quickly as we were greeted by everyone there. I didn’t feel as that anyone was judging us or wondering “who the heck are these guys?” The crew made us feel as we were accepted. They did this through showing loves to us, something we can all incorporate more of into our daily lives. What benefit does it do to judge and have hate towards others? Nothing good comes from that, but loving other people can once again change someone’s life. That alone should be enough motivation.
- Surround yourself with like minded people. Everyone at IVB has the same mindset when it comes to lifting, business, and life. They all want to better themselves and each other, which creates an electrifying environment. When you surround yourself with people that have the same ambitions in life as you, you start experiencing some crazy momentum in life. Ever heard the saying “You become who you surround yourself with”? If you surround yourself with successful and driven people, it will help you become more driven in your purpose. I know from experience that surrounding myself with certain people in the last few months has for sure changed my momentum on my journey into the fitness industry.
There’s a reason people travel from all over the United States to come to IVB, I’m just lucky enough to only be an hour and a half away from it. After my trip to IVB and learning these life lessons first hand, it changed my mindset on a lot of things.
Show someone some love today.
