What To Do When Lacking Motivation

Processed with VSCO with b5 preset

We have all been there. Our daily routines have consumed our lives and we feel like we are stuck in a rut. We are lacking motivation to study for a test, eat right, or going to the gym. Everybody will need some sort of inspiration or guide to overcome the lack of motivation, which consumes everybody at some point in their lives in some shape or form. For me, I was “stuck” in the beginning of September. It felt like all the weights were heavy and my numbers were staying constant. Here are 3 ideas that helped me overcome the lack of motivation.

1. Meditation

Meditation isn’t necessarily sitting cross legged and humming. Meditation is different for everyone. Some people find peace in a dark, quiet room, while others might be in the gym, on the court, or on a little jog. You need to take a short break from life for a second and reflect on yourself a little. For me, meditation was a short jog around my block listening to music to really relax me.

2. Remind Yourself Of Your Goals

Take a moment and reflect on your goals. Reminding yourself of your goals will likely give you the motivation needed to do the task at hand. Continually working for a goal is motivating in itself. Reminding myself of my goals isn’t very difficult. They are written on a whiteboard in my room and they are the first thing I see every day. But reminding myself of why I made those goals and how I’m going to accomplish them is what really matters.

3. Take a Break From Social Media

Social media is so cluttered now a days. There are so many platforms that people portray their feelings on, it is now just a big mess. Social media can be a good thing, but it has consumed so much of our lives that a littlebreak to relax is very self rewarding. I took a short break from Twitter and Instagram when I was in a short funk. I needed to take a break from focusing on what everyone else was doing and focus on myself. I needed to reflect on how far I’ve come, but also how far I have yet to go to reach my goals.

Self motivation is not always going to be prevelant in your life, and not every day is going to be easy. Some days it is necessary to make your own motivation. You have to remind yourself of your goals and shut yourself off from anything that doesn’t help motivate you.

  1. Awesome post! I resonated the most with, “I needed to take a break from focusing on what everyone else was doing and focus on myself. I needed to reflect on how far I’ve come, but also how far I have yet to go to reach my goals.” Thanks for the encouragement! 💕🌻
